Central Florida professional and student chapters of IISE volunteered to decorate the Give Kids the World Village for Christmas. Along with this annual tradition, the volunteers provide industrial engineering support for the village, which treats children with life-threatening illnesses and their families to fantasy vacations. IISE’s Central Florida chapter has spent the last two years helping give kids the world – literally.
Give Kids the World Village enables children with life-threatening illnesses and their families to take week-long, cost-free fantasy vacations. The village, a 70-acre, nonprofit resort near central Florida’s main attractions, offers accommodations in whimsical villas, transportation, donated attraction tickets, meals and more. Since 1986, Give Kids the World has welcomed more than 135,000 families from all 50 U.S. states and 75 countries.
The Central Florida chapter has helped with housekeeping efficiency and labor loads, quantifying a gap in available parking, opening a new cafeteria and master planning for space and warehousing.
