Offender Personal Property Management Process Streamlined with Kaizen Event at Department of Corrections

1 min read

Adrienne Allen and Elizabeth Rivera share their thoughts about a kaizen event they participated in with the Department of Corrections.

When inmates are incarcerated, their personal property is collected and stored at each facility. Each facility works under the same policies, but implement it in different ways. They were looking to streamline the process using a process mapping exercise, which exposed all the participants in the process, and understand the breakdowns and opportunities for improvement.

They feel that the improvements have saved officers time, and reduced turnover in the staff.

You can hear them share their experience of the kaizen event by watching the video called “DOC Offender Property” at https://www.gembaacademy.com/guests/state-of-connecticut
