We are pleased to present our 2nd Lean Government Exchange on August 30th in Des Moines! Government and non-profit entities face unique challenges with their Lean journey so we have designed a day of learning aimed at helping you learn how to overcome those challenges by hearing from others who have gone before you. This event is not limited to those in government – anyone with an interest in continuous improvement will benefit from attending.
The day will begin with a keynote address from Brian Elms.
Brian Elms is the author of Peak Performance and is the former the Director of Peak Academy and Analytics for the City and County of Denver. He specializes in government innovation and process improvement with more than 15 years of experience providing political, policy, and program management expertise to government agencies, elected officials, trade associations, and nonprofits.
Brian started his career in public service after graduating from Regis University and joining the National School and Community Corps (AmeriCorps) as a team leader. He also worked for the Rendell Administration in Pennsylvania as the Policy Director for the Department of Aging. After working in Washington, D.C., for AARP as a Legislative Specialist for health and long-term care, Brian moved back to his hometown and served as the Assistant Director of Government Affairs at Denver International Airport.
Brian is a Lean Black Belt, a certified Six Sigma Green Belt, and a Change Management Professional. In his prior role as Director of the Peak Academy, he developed curriculum, training, and consulting services that focus on employee-led performance management and continuous improvement.
Brian joined the Change & Innovation Agency to focus on creating employee-driven innovation programs around the country. He is currently working with nearly a dozen governments to launch programs and establish meaningful innovation programs that improve the lives of employees and their clients.
Your day of learning will continue with breakout sessions focused on three tracks – introducing, growing and sustaining continuous improvement. Breakout descriptions will be added when they are finalized so please check back!
The cost to attend this event is the same for members and non-members. To help ensure maximum value for your organization and action following the conference, we encourage you to register a team of three people from your organization – when you register three or more from your organization at the same time you will receive a per ticket discount. Bringing a team will allow you the opportunity to share various perspectives and best practices with each other and especially when it’s time for implementation.
I attended the 2017 Lean Government Exchange with several coworkers. It was very beneficial to have multiple people there because we could attend more sessions. We were able to compare notes and brainstorm ideas for the sessions we attended together. I highly suggest attending the 2018 Lean Government Exchange and bring as many coworkers as possible! – Jennifer Peterson, Lean Coordinator/Technical Writer , Muscatine Power and Water
