Written by Environmental analysts Elaine DeSalvo and Brent Madho from the State of Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) discuss improvements made in 2015 to reduce times by 20% in the application review process. A weeklong lean event was conducted, and actions were implemented over the next year.
Process steps were reduced by 34% (too many sufficiency reviews) and improvements were made to ensure applicants were providing everything they needed to make a decision. They also split up their application forms to make them more specific, which reduced complexity.
