Environmental analysts Elaine DeSalvo and Brent Madho from the State of Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) discuss improvements made in 2015 to reduce times by 20% in the application review process. A weeklong lean event was conducted, and actions were implemented over the next year.
Process steps were reduced by 34% (too many sufficiency reviews) and improvements were made to ensure applicants were providing everything they needed to make a decision. They also split up their application forms to make them more specific, which reduced complexity.
